Last week, museum workers around the world celebrated their professional holiday. International Museum Day appeared in 1977, when a proposal to establish it was adopted at a regular meeting of the International Council of Museums. These days, a magnificent trio of museums are open in the Berezinsky Biosphere Reserve: the oldest, created back in 1983, the Museum of Nature (1); the magical Museum of Myths (2), opened 6 years ago; and the Museum of Honey (3), which opened its doors to visitors in 2020.
Perhaps the most famous tradition of the holiday is the annual Night of Museums event, which has been taking place in the Berezinsky Biosphere Reserve for many years since 2015. In the evening of May 20, anyone could visit all our museums for free. More than 50 people participated in the festive event, the theme of which was "Adventure".
The guests could visit the museums of the reserve during late hours, with interactive participation of guests and theatrical performances. The visitors dipped into the history of our crucial task − nature conservation, getting acquainted with the expedition of Academician Anatoly Vladimirovich Fedyushin, participating in the "detention of the poacher".
Moreover, in the Museum of Honey and Beekeeping, our late visitors learned about the life of hard-working striped insects, talked with the beekeeper about the “bee law” – a form of nature conservation that existed many centuries ago.
Everyone who wished could hug a bear heartily, and also taste tea with fragrant herbs and honey collected by bees in the Berezinsky Reserve.
At the exit from the Museum of Honey, our guests were met by Leshy, who led the guests to the Museum of Mythology.
There, Volkolak conducted a short tour on his life and the life of his "colleagues".
Next, Dzed Gayun met the guests and led them to the forest witch-storyteller, who told about how people used to live and how they valued and loved nature, not under the threat of a fine from the forest inspection, but because they lived in harmony with the natural world.
And on May 21, for the participants of the two-day tour "Night of Museums in Berezinsky", a unique excursion was organized by the ornithologist of the reserve along the route "Nesting Trail" with an outdoor picnic.
The Night of Museums program left our guests with the most pleasant impressions. We hope that next time the thematic action will be attended by an even larger audience. We are waiting for you in 2024 for the "Night of Museums" event and during this year, seven days a week, to all the museums of the reserve!
