World environment day
World Environment Day in the reserve for the younger generation
June 5 marks an important date in the environmental calendar – World Environment Day, or Ecologist's Day. The concept of ecology is very extensive, it includes atmospheric air, water, forests, and, in general, all the rich bowels of our planet Earth.
On December 15, 1972, the General Assembly declared June 5 as World Environment Day, the purpose of which is to increase public awareness of importance to preserve and improve the environment. The choice of this date is justified by the fact that on this day the United Nations Conference on the Human Environment (Stockholm, 1972) opened, followed by the creation of the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP). World Environment Day has been celebrated on June 5 since 1973.
In the Republic of Belarus, by the Decree of its President the Day of Environmental Protection is established as a holiday on June 5 and its celebration coincides with the date of celebration of the World Environment Day.
In the Berezinsky Biosphere Reserve, special attention is paid to this date. Not only on this day, but throughout the year, we take care of environmental protection, environmental education and education of the right attitude towards nature. And this year was no exception.
On June 5, students of the Domzheritsky Basic School took part in an exciting educational excursion along the "Trail of Discovery" route, held as part of the event.
The tour was outdoors, and part of the route was the study of insects: everyone could feel like a young ecologist.
At the beginning of the route – an informational part, which introduced everyone to the rules of behavior in nature, a story about the event and the purpose of it.
The children also learned about what each person can do personally to preserve the environment – after all, the preservation of nature depends on each of us.
At the end of the forest walk, a small bonus awaited all participants – near a huge boulder, our magic stone, all the children could make their deepest wishes.
